In 1998, the Palos de la Frontera plant commissioned a dichloroethane unit with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons, making it possible to increase the flexibility of chlorine production and optimise the use of existing capacities. Part of the dichloroethane produced is transported, by sea, to the Vila-seca industrial facility to produce vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). The remainder is exported.
