The Sabiñánigo plant is a pioneer in Spain in the production of ammonia, dating back to 1923. Thirty years later, new synthesis equipment was installed and in 1986, in the same premises as the original plant, the current ammonia facility was installed with a present production capacity of 14,000 tons annually.
The profitability of ammonia production is based on using to the full the hydrogen that is a by-product of the chlorine/potash and sodium chlorate electrolysis at the Sabiñánigo plant.
