The objective of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemical substances and preparations (REACH), is to safeguard public health and the environment from the risks from these substances and preparations. The key element of REACH is the systematic registration of all chemical substances, which includes the assessment of the hazards which these substances carry.
Within the timescales anticipated in the transitional phase, Ercros pre-registered all the substances it manufactures and imports. The company is now in the phase of preparing the registration dossiers in order to be able to present them to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in time.
In accordance with Article 37.2 of REACH, the company’s customers, as intermediate users of the substances supplied by Ercros, have the right to make Ercros aware of the uses and applications they have for each product. This information will be used by Ercros to prepare the exposure risk scenario for each product. These scenarios will be communicated to customers by means of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each product as from December 2010.
To inform the supply chain of the uses identified by Ercros for each product, a list of the substances the company markets is detailed below, with the uses established for each of them, as well their CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) and EINECS (European Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances) numbers and the corresponding material safety data sheets (MSDS). In the case that a customer makes a use of a product which is not considered in this list, it may notify Ercros by mail or e-mail and the Ercros will take this into account in the next revision of the list.
Note: Some of the substances marketed by Ercros, such as biocides, polymers, additives for animal feedstuffs, substances in Annexes IV and V of REACH and active principles for medicines, are exempt from registration. For this reason, they do not appear in the list of substances and uses.
