The European Commission rewards the Ercros factories in Sabiñánigo and Monzón for their environmental management

22th of January 2015.-The Government of Aragon, by delegation of the European Commission has awarded Ercros factories in Sabiñánigo and Monzon for more than five years in the European EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), which recognizes excellence in environmental performance beyond the rules; credibility and social and corporate responsibility, and transparency in the conduct of business.

Luis Gállego and Rafael Mancho, CEOs in Sabiñánigo and Monzon, collected the award at a ceremony presided by Modesto Lobón, Consilour for Agriculture, Livestock and Environment in Aragón, who highlighted the opportunity in business and job creation enabled by a proper environmental management.

The presentation of the awards had the presence of Antonio Garrigues Walker, who has given a lecture on business and environment in which he highlighted the economic and social dynamism that creates the environment, ensuring that "the awards given today demonstrate that nowadays the companies have greater awareness in this field"

Ercros factory in Sabiñánigo produces chlorine, chloroisocyanurates, chlorates and potash, among other products. For its part, Monzón plant manufactures PVC compounds and also hosts the R & D Department of Ercros Plastic Division.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the creation of EMAS registration, the European Commission has taken the initiative to provide a number of distinctive diplomas to recognize the efforts of the companies involved. Monzón and Sabiñánigo factories had a bronze recognition, to meet for more than five years (in 2016 will be ten) the highest environmental standards.

Besides of Monzón and Sabiñánigo, Ercros has other factories also registered under EMAS scheme: Cardona, Palos de la Frontera, Tarragona, Tortosa, Vila-seca I  and Vila-seca II.

All the factories of the company have approved its system of environmental management according to ISO 14001, quality management according to ISO 9001, and prevention according to OHSAS 18001.  Factories in Sabiñánigo, Vila-seca I, Vila-seca II and Tarragona have proved their energy management system according to ISO 50001 standard, and since 2013 the company has verified their emissions of greenhouse gases, according to the ISO 14064 standard.
