12th of January 2015.- Ercros reports the agreement reached yesterday, February the 11th, with Salinas del Odiel by which this company commits to purchase the subsidiary company of Ercros, Electroquímica Onubense, to which Ercros shall be transferred the production units of the factory of Palos de la Frontera and the Salina of Huelva.
The transaction is subject to the transfer of the activities of these production units to above mentioned company and to the segregation of the land where are located the production plants to the rest of the factory.
The Ercros factory of Palos de la Frontera is located at the chemical cluster in Huelva and produces chlorine and caustic soda, and derivatives such as sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid, with applications in textile, food, detergents, farming and paper industry.
Since 1980, this factory operates the Salina, a 1.200 hectare area, located in the salt marshes of the right bank of the Odiel River. The Salina’s activity is the extraction of salt, part of which is used as raw material in the electrolysis plant in Palos factory, being Salinas del Odiel one of its main customers.
Salinas del Odiel is an Andalusian company established in 2010; whose activity is packaging salt for food and dishwashers, being its main customer the supermarket chain Mercadona. Salinas del Odiel products are certified by international food safety standards IFS (International Food Standards) and BRC (British Retail Consortium) and it has 70 employees.
