10 years without accidents with leave at Ercros factory in Vila-Seca I

Barcelona, April 9, 2015 - In the last 10 years, none of the 127 people working in Vila-seca I factory, at Ercros Industrial Complex in Tarragona, has suffered an accident with leave. This is a goal that in the words of its director, Marc Fargas, "sums up the good work that is being developed at our centre in the field of prevention of occupational risks, putting above all professionalism and high level of commitment from all of us. It's a very difficult milestone to achieve and we should be proud of it"

Vila-seca I, like the rest of Ercros workplaces, has launched this year the campaign "Think of prevention" that reminds workers the importance of a brief reflection before starting any task, to ensure all measures on labour safety are being met. The aim of the campaign is to prevent accidents caused by non-compliance with safety procedures or non-detection of unsafe situations. That is, perfectly avoidable accidents.

Vila-seca I belongs to the division of Ercros basic chemistry and produces hydrochloric acid, chlorine, sodium hypochlorite and caustic soda. These materials have applications in different sectors: textile, food and paper industry, agriculture and are also used to produce detergents.

The centres that form the Ercros Industrial Complex in Tarragona - Vila-seca I, Vila-seca II and Tarragona factories- have approved management system of prevention, according to OHSAS 18001; quality according to ISO 9001; environment according to ISO 14001, and energy management according to ISO 50001 standard. In addition, the three are enrolled in the European EMAS environmental record (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).
