Students from Universitat Rovira i Virgili visited the factory in Vila-seca II at the Ercros Industrial Complex in Tarragona

Tarragona, 30 March 2016. - The centre of Vila-seca II at Ercros Industrial Complex in Tarragona received the visit of 50 third year students of Chemistry from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. College students, accompanied by their teachers, have known the production process at VCM (vinyl chloride) plant. Also, the technical staff of Ercros has explained the operation of the centre and how it is part of the Industrial Complex that the Catalan chemicals group has in Tarragona. They have also received a brief explanation about Ercros and its factories.

Vila-seca II factory is part of Ercros plastic division and focuses on the production of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Ercros is the second largest producer of this product in Spain, which has multiple applications: manufacture of pipes, hoses and films; profiles for doors and windows; packaging for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics; components for the automotive industry, among others. The centre employs 135 people and has a production capacity of 525.00 annual tons.

The visit of students, especially those who are pursuing chemistry and industry related degrees, is a longstanding tradition at the factories of Ercros group and are part of the company social responsibility policy.
