Barcelona, July 4, 2016. - In 2015, Ercros reduced by 37% its rate of overall frequency of accidents, which measures the number of accidents -with or without medical leave- between in-house and external staff for each million hours worked. In 2015 the rate stood at 3.03 and confirms the progressive reduction in the number of accidents in recent years. Also, the rate in 2015 is 43% lower than the average of the past five years.
All these data, together with the main actions in social responsibility undertaken by the company in 2015, have been included at the Ercros’ Corporate Social Responsibility Report ("CSR") which has obtained the "Excellence Responsible Company" label, granted by the auditing company Bureau Veritas.
In the past year the compliance degree of the six codes of management practices set by the Responsible Care program was 99.2%. The program Responsible Care, to which the company is adhered voluntarily since 1994, aims to ensure that companies in the development of its business, achieve continuous improvement regarding safety and health protection, environment, product stewardship, communication and transparency.
In 2015, the company improved its punctuation in the CDP questionnaire, which assesses the transparency of information about the company’s commitment on climate change, Ercros achieved a score of 87 out of 100, five points more than in 2014 and three points above the average for its sector. In the rating CSR EcoVadis, which aims to improve companies’ environmental and social practices by using the influence of global supply chains, Ercros obtained a rating of "Gold", with 64 points out of 100, that situates the company in the 2.5% of companies with better result among all the submitted.
In the field of sustainability, fits to stand out that, eight of the eleven Ercros’ factories are registered in the European register EMAS (Echo-Management and Audit Scheme), which certifies those companies and facilities that continuously improve their environmental records. In addition, all the factories of the company have proven its environmental management system according to ISO 14001 and verified annually their emissions of greenhouse gases according to ISO 14064. In addition, the factories in Vila-seca I, Vila-seca II, Sabiñánigo and Tarragona have accredited their good practices in energy management according to the ISO 50001 standard.
