Sabiñánigo, May 31, 2018. - Last weekend there was intense activity in the factory of Ercros in Sabiñánigo, which received the visit of about 500 people on the occasion of its centenary celebration. The acts began on Friday, with an open day for the company's shareholders; followed on Saturday, with an institutional act, and culminated on Sunday, with the invitation to employees and their families.
In the act of Saturday, in addition to celebrating the centenary of the factory, two new facilities - the chlorine-caustic soda and hydrochloric acid production plant - were inaugurated by the president of the Government of Aragon, Javier Lambán, who was accompanied by the mayor of Sabiñánigo, Jesús Lasierra; the president of Ercros, Antonio Zabalza; in addition to the regional ministers of Economy, Industry and Employment, Marta Gastón, and of Citizenship and Social Rights, María Victoria Broto, of the Minister of Rural Development and Sustainability, Joaquín Olona, as well as other authorities of the area, Ercros executives and representatives of the local society.
The visit began with a tour around factory facilities and continued with the discovery of a commemorative monolith. The president of Ercros stressed that the Sabiñánigo plant "is more alive than ever, in the sense that it is fully modernized and has commercial prospects, both nationally and internationally". For his part, the president of Aragon said Ercros "has managed to set the population, as well as being an example for the economic model that the executive wants for the community based on innovation and industry."
On Sunday, it was the turn of the workers and their families, who had the opportunity to learn about the new factory facilities. The director of the centre, Luis Gállego, in an emotional and applauded speech, recalled how his grandfather came to Sabiñánigo looking for a better future and explained that it was a great honour for him to run a factory where his father and grandfather had worked before.
The day ended with a typical springtime downpour in the Pyrenees and with the hope that the factory could celebrate at least another hundred years.
