Barcelona, November 8, 2018. - Santos Ballestar, head of the quality and environment service of the Sabiñánigo factory, participated on October 25 in Tarragona in a round table talk to present the Ercros experience with the adaptation to the best available techniques (BAT) of the manufacture process of chlorine and its derivatives. These techniques comply with the objectives of sustainable environmental development of the European Union and are mandatory for all industrial facilities. In the case of Ercros, they have led to the abandonment of the use of mercury technology and the adoption of membrane technology, considered the most efficient and sustainable.
The organization of the day was provided by Inerco, an industrial engineering company, and was attended by more than 40 representatives of the chemical industry. The objective of the day was to analyse and share experiences on the application of the Industrial Emissions Directive (DEI) in different industrial sectors. Santos Ballestar explained Ercros' experience in the technological transition towards BAT and resolved the doubts of other companies that are immersed in a process of implementing a BAT or that are preparing to start it.
