Barcelona, November 28, 2022.- The Ercros factories in Almussafes and Tortosa have certified their energy management according to the ISO 50001 standard, joining the Sabiñánigo factory and the industrial complex in Tarragona, which are already accredited according to this international standard. Other Ercros production centers are in the process of accreditation and are expected to receive this certification in the coming months.
ISO 50001 is the most widely used energy management standard in the world, which helps companies to implement their energy policy and to properly manage the energy aspects derived from their activity, resulting in real and quantifiable savings in energy costs and in a more efficient and sustainable use of natural resources.
With these new certifications, Ercros takes another step forward in its commitment to climate emergency by reducing its energy expenditure and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Almussafes center is the world's leading producer of paraformaldehyde, 95% of whose production is exported worldwide. This center also manufactures the range of green resins, ErcrosGreen+, whose level of emissions is similar to that of natural wood, and the ErcrosTech range of technical resins, designed for high performance applications.
The Tortosa plant is one of the world's leading producers of polyols, which are mainly used to manufacture synthetic resins and lubricants; paints; PVC stabilizers; and printing inks. This center exports 90% of its polyol production to more than 50 countries.
