December 10th 2014.- Ercros has improved its score by 11% in the CDP ranking which assesses the quality and completeness of the information provided by listed companies regarding their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change policies. In the evaluation of transparency information, Ercros scored 82 percent in the 2014 edition, eight points more than in 2013. For this financial year, Ercros was ranked six points above the average score in its sector.
The CDP report evaluates the efforts employed by companies to find solutions and mitigate the effects of global warming and their disclosure of the actions and results in this area. This is the third time that Ercros has featured in the ranking and each year the company has improved its position.
Between 2013 and 2014, Ercros also managed to reduce its emissions. Specifically, it reduced direct emissions by 6% (scope 1) and indirect emissions from external sources of energy by 25% (scope 2).
In this third evaluation, Ercros was awarded grade D over six ranges for its performance in mitigating CO2 emissions, the same as in previous editions.
CPD is an independent non-profit organisation which has compiled the largest global database on corporate climate impact. It was created in 2000 and its first questionnaire was sent to the world's 500 largest companies. In Spain and Portugal the questionnaire was sent to the 125 largest listed companies.
The questionnaire serves as an action plan for companies to build efficient greenhouse gas and natural resources management policies as well as for monitoring the plan and its long-term strategy against climate change.
Each year, CPD publishes local reports, which are distributed to more than 655 investors and public institutions to provide them with consistent information about medium and long-term climate change risks, in order to make investment decisions.
