Pere Kirchner Baliu

He holds a law degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics.

He began his professional career in the field of commercial and capital markets law, developing his expertise in the design and execution of national and international corporate finance and M&A transactions, including company acquisitions, public takeover bids, initial public offerings (IPOs), and private equity and distressed M&A deals. Throughout his career, he has advised multinational clients on some of the most significant and innovative transactions in the Spanish market and listed companies on commercial law, corporate governance, and corporate disputes. He has also served as secretary to the board of directors of several leading Spanish companies.

He has been co-chair of the Securities Law Committee and the Capital Markets Forum of the International Bar Association. He was a member (2012) of the expert group of the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) tasked with evaluating the activity of proxy advisors in relation to Spanish issuers; and he has taught securities law and corporate governance in the Executive MBA program at ESADE–Ramon Llull University. He is also part of the French Desk at Cuatrecasas, a member of the board of directors of the Spanish-French Friendship Association “Diálogo” and a member of the board of directors of the French Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona.

Currently, he is a lawyer and partner in the Corporate practice at Cuatrecasas, leading the firm's advisory services on complex corporate finance and securities market transactions in Spain. He is recommended by leading international directories (Legal 500, Latin Lawyer, Leaders League, IFLR, Expert Guides, European Legal Experts, Best Lawyers and Lexology Index) in the areas of Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate M&A, Food & Beverage, Private Equity and Venture Capital, and has been recognized as Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in Capital Markets Law (2018, 2016).
