Ercros Tarragona, recognized for more than 20 years in the EMAS system

Tarragona,
CIT Recognition of 20 Years in EMAS
Belén Brota receives the award from Marta Escamilla and Jordi Sargatal

The Tarragona industrial complex (CIT) of Ercros has been distinguished with the recognition for more than 20 years of adherence to the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental management and audit system, in a ceremony that has rewarded the trajectory of Catalan organizations committed to environmental improvement and with a management model that prioritizes transparency and quality.

The EMAS system is a management tool developed by the European Union that distinguishes those organizations that have not only implemented an environmental management system, but have also acquired a commitment to continuous improvement, which is verified through independent audits.

Belén Brota, head of the technical department of quality, environment and stewardship of the CIT, was in charge of collecting the award from Jordi Sargatal, secretary of ecological transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Marta Escamilla, president of the EMAS Club. The event was chaired by the Counsellor of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition and Government spokeswoman, Silvia Paneque.

The CIT belongs to the chlorine derivatives division of Ercros and is made up of the factories in Tarragona, Vila-seca I and Vila-seca II, where more than 330 people currently work.

Ercros is a pioneering company in adhering to the EMAS system: in addition to the Tarragona complex, the factories in Monzón, Sabiñánigo and Tortosa also have this accreditation.
