Ercros reiterates its willingness to find a consensual solution for El Hondón

In order to overcome the discrepancies that arose between the technical teams of the Region of Murcia and Ercros in the meeting held on March 5 and with the aim of finding a consensual remediation solution for the El Hondón land, Ercros proposes to the Ministry of Environment, Universities, Research and Mar Menor, continue the work meetings and request that they be joined by representatives of the legal service of the Murcia administration itself and technicians from the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN). The participation of these experts is necessary to resolve the doubts and technical clarifications that arose in the last meeting.

Ercros has also proposed that the representatives of the neighbourhood associations affected by the situation on the El Hondón land participate in these meetings, as they are the main victims and are part of the judicial proceedings that are being followed before the Superior Court of Justice of Murcia.

Ercros considers it is essential that technicians and neighbours participate in the new meetings in order to move towards a solution agreed upon by all affected operators and respectful of the environment.

After more than four years since the start of the contaminated soil declaration file, and more than a year since the CSN issued its favourable report on the El Hondón remediation project presented by Ercros, the company urges the administration to expedite these meetings technicians to address the remediation work at El Hondón as soon as possible.
