The General Director of Industry visits the new facilities in Vila-seca

Vila-seca,

The General Director of Industry of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Matilde Villarroya, accompanied by other officials from the Territorial Business and Knowledge Services in Tarragona, today visited the Ercros de Vila-seca I factory, which is undergoing significant investment. The Ercros delegation was headed by Agustín Franco, general director of business.

Among the new facilities visited, it is worth highlighting the chlorine and caustic soda production plant using membrane technology, the most advanced technology, respectful of the environment and more efficient with 30% less electricity consumption. The chlorine production capacity of this plant, after the latest investments made, has gone from 55,000 t/year to 146,000 t/year; and at the end of 2019 it will reach 172,000 t/year.

During the visit they have also been able to see the new production facilities for hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite and concentration of soda, as well as the remodeling, adaptation and improvement of different services adapted to the new productive scenario of the factory, such as truck loading stations and the new steam boiler.

The greater availability of chlorine that these expansions allow is being used to increase the amount supplied to a customer as well as to satisfy part of the internal needs demanded by the PVC production plant.

Ercros is the leading producer in Spain of chlorine, soda and sodium hypochlorite.
