Students from the Sarrià Chemical Institute visit the Vila-seca I factory

Vila-seca,

Five students of the Master's in Chemical Engineering from the Chemical Institute of Sarrià (IQS) visited the Ercros factory in Vila-seca I.

The students are carrying out a project based on the treatment of chlorine produced in a membrane plant and, in this factory, they were able to see the equipment involved in this process.

The visit was carried out with a small group in order to follow all the security measures established to deal with covid-19. The staff at the Vila-seca I center is made up of more than 130 people.

This center belongs to the chlorine derivatives division and has a total production capacity of around 440,000 t/year. Between 2016 and 2019, Ercros carried out a major modernization of Vila-seca I to adapt the chlorine production process to the best available technology (membrane technology) and expand its facilities. As a result, Ercros today has the best electrolysis plant in Spain.
