The Tortosa factory awarded for its job security
The Ercros factory in Tortosa has been awarded the Feique 2019 Security Award granted by the Business Federation of the Spanish Chemical Industry (Feique). This award recognizes chemical industry production centers with more than 50 workers that during the year have not recorded accidents with or without leave among their own personnel.
In 2019, Ercros' general accident frequency rate -which measures accidents with and without sick leave for every million hours worked- was 2.5, a figure much lower than the average for companies associated with Feique in that period.
The Tortosa factory belongs to the Ercros intermediate chemicals division, has a workforce of 113 workers, exports 73% of its production and is the third largest producer of pentaerythritol and dipentareritol in the world, used in the manufacture of paints and lubricants. The center also produces sodium formate, used in the decking industry, and formaldehyde, which is used in the lumber industry. The center also houses the R&D laboratory of the intermediate chemistry division.
The center has certified its environmental management according to the ISO 14001 standard; occupational safety management according to the OSHAS 18001 standard; quality management according to ISO 9001; and has its CO2 emissions verified, in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard.
