Ercros' solar plant in Flix reduces CO2 emissions by 800 t/year

Barcelona,

Ercros has launched a photovoltaic solar plant at its factory in Flix, which will reduce around 800 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. The plant has a capacity of 1.8 MW and can generate up to 3,000 MWh of electricity annually. This electricity can be fed into the grid or, in the future, purchased by other companies that set up operations on Ercros’ land in Flix.

The new solar park consists of more than 4,200 photovoltaic panels, installed on land previously occupied by industrial facilities that ceased activity. This is a reuse of industrial land as part of the reindustrialization program being carried out in Flix.

The construction of this photovoltaic plant is included in Ercros’ 3D Investment Plan for the 2021–2029 period. It is one of nine projects under the decarbonization area of the plan, aimed at intensifying the company’s efforts to mitigate climate change. Its commissioning will result in a 39% reduction, compared to 2020, in Ercros’ combined direct, and indirect from energy, consumption CO₂ emissions.
