A state-of-the-art data center to be installed on the Flix grounds

Ercros has signed a contract with Submer Group for the implementation of a state-of-the-art data centre on land owned by the company in Flix, within the framework of the reindustrialisation plan for the area. Under the agreement, Ercros leases the land and provides certain services necessary for the development of the project. The project will be developed and operated by Rubix Data Centers, a Submer Group company.

This project is part of the new stage of Ercros after the integration with Bondalti, a stage aimed at strengthening the company's competitiveness, promoting innovation and generating value in the territories where it operates.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Salvador Illa, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Francesc Barbero, mayor of Flix; Antón Valero, president of Ercros, and Pol Valls, co-founder of Submer Group.

The president of Ercros, Antón Valero, said: "This agreement reaffirms Ercros' commitment to the reindustrialisation of Flix and to the economic development of the territory. Flix has excellent competitive conditions to host industrial and technological projects and demonstrates how collaboration between the company and the administrations can favour the arrival of new investments, promote industrial activities of the future and generate new opportunities for the municipality".

Flix, a competitive location for new investments

The implementation of the data centre reinforces Flix's position as a competitive location to host new industrial and technology-based business projects.

The Ercros land offers a particularly attractive combination of factors for this type of investment: available industrial land, access to competitive energy from renewable sources, integrated industrial services, good communication and transport infrastructures, a long industrial tradition and solid institutional support.

Submer Group is the second company to set up on Ercros' land in Flix, after Gas Ibérica, and the first to promote a fully technological project. Its arrival broadens the profile of activities present in the municipality, reinforces the reindustrialization process and contributes to diversifying its economic base.

Sustainable technology and energy transition

The data center will be located in an industrial area away from residential areas and will meet all applicable environmental and technical requirements. The technology developed by Submer Group has been conceived with sustainability as its central axis and incorporates high-efficiency refrigeration systems.

The project is also aligned with the energy transition promoted by Ercros. Flix has energy at a competitive price, the company has a photovoltaic plant on its land and the municipality offers favourable conditions for the development of new renewable energy facilities.
