Incident at the Ercros Factory in Sabiñánigo

Sabiñánigo,

At 18:30 today, a fire broke out in an area adjacent to the sodium chlorate plant at the Ercros factory in Sabiñánigo, for reasons still unknown.

The centre's self-protection plan was immediately activated, in accordance with established safety protocols. As part of this plan, the corresponding communication was made to 112. Simultaneously, internal intervention teams acted to extinguish the fire, later supported by the Sabiñánigo fire brigade. The fire is now completely extinguished.

No significant personal injuries or external impacts have been recorded; only containers, packaging, and electrical material in a nearby substation were burned, but no toxic or hazardous products were affected. The material damage, although still pending evaluation, is expected to be minor.

At present, the affected plant remains shut down for safety reasons, although it was not affected by the fire. The rest of the factory's plants are operating normally.

Ercros appreciates the work of the Sabiñánigo fire brigade and the effective action of its own intervention team, whose coordination allowed the situation to be resolved quickly and safely.

The company has launched an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident and reaffirms its strong commitment to industrial safety, prevention, and environmental protection.
